I got a new battery about a month and a half ago. Got in this morning to go to work and it wouldn't start. I gassed it a little and it started right away, but died as soon as I took my foot off the gas. I'm totally clueless about cars, and my mechanic's closed today. Any ideas??

Sounds like you may have a failing idle control solenoid. Itg is located on top of the engine and is easy to replace. Here is a generic Ford valve.

I had AAA come to tow it and the tow guy pretty much said it was the idle too. He said it was idling way too low, and that he would adjust it but that the screw was a little rusty and he didn't want to snap it. Such a relief because I was afraid it was a fuel system issue. *phew* Thanks tons for the insight (I'm seriously a total cartard.) and here's hoping it's something so simple. Smile

Unfortunately that's not how you adjust the idle but may cover the real problem for a while. Idle speed motor holds idle as told by the car's computer system. That motor ir bad info going to it would be the likely problem,
