I recently changed the head gasket and put everything back on and upon starting the engine it started right up but is now idling at 4500 rpm. Im not sure what to check or where to start now. Any reply would be helpful. It has the 3.3L and 250000 miles on it.

Is the throttle plate closing all the way?
Is the throttle body clean?
The IAC valve might be stuck open or pening for some reason.
Just go over everything and double check your work.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Look for a major vacuum leak.

I did find a slow leak in the "egr" tube coming off the intake manifold, fixed that and now is working. Thank you all who replied.

It couldn't have been too slow if it did all that............
