'98 Sebring turns over won't start. Sign In

Hi everybody, Having starting trouble with my sons '98 Chrysler Sebring. It has the 2.5L V-6. I t has over 90,000 miles on it.The service engine soon light does come on when cranking the engine. The engine turns over strongly but does not start. I put gas in the tank and I hear the fuel pump start up. It is not getting any spark. I tested it myself with a spark plug tester I picked up at the local parts store. my boy says he heard a loud squealing/screeching noise when he last drove it home. At any rate it is dead in the driveway and He of course is rather unhappy......... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I used to monkey around with my cars years ago so I have a little knowledge. I just need pointed in the right direction. His mother gave him the car and it looks nice but has been quite the money pit between tires, gas, and breakdowns. I can't afford the mechanic this month. So please Help!!!!

http://www.autozone.com/...eId=0900c152800895fe try these instructions, in most of my encounters with this type of problem if the injectors are also not working more than likely it would be the PCM, but testing other related parts is the best way to go first...a code scanner would help alot too.

Thanks Dave, I followed the procedure from Autozone. Everything tested normal except the readings at the ignition coil tower. I get 9 Kohms on both sides of the 2 pin terminal. It is supposed to be between 12 & 18 Kohms.
The coil is an integral part of the distributor and is a couple hundred bucks. Is this hard to change and do you think it is the problem? I never changed a distributor before but think I can do it. I just hate to invest that much money if I'm not sure........
Thanks again,
Jeff
