98 Ply Breeze dies when coming to a stop with ac on Sign In

Hi! My 98 Plymouth Breeze (156,000 miles) has been acting up ever since I started running the air conditioner about a month ago. When the a/c is on and I am coming to a stop (either in traffic or at a stoplight), the engine shakes violently and dies if I don't immediately turn off the air conditioner. If it dies, I can turn off the air and restart the car, and then it runs. Doesn't have this problem when the air conditioning is off and I just have the fan on. I'm taking it into the shop tomorrow, just wondering what to expect in terms of what it will need. Cracked exhaust system manifold, busted oxygen sensor, and timing chain were replaced two months ago (and those repairs cost more than the car is worth!). Air conditioner is definitely needed, as I live in St. Louis, it's getting hot, and I have a 90 mile daily commute! Any insight anyone can provide would be much appreciated! Unsure Thank you!

It could be an IAC valve, need to have the computer checked for trouble codes, other than that the compressor or the clutch could be locking up, but a shop would have the tools for kind of diagnosing.

Thanks for the advice... unfortunately the shop couldn't find anything wrong with the car's computer, and it wasn't shuddering or dying when the mechanics drove it, so they have no idea what is wrong.

It shuddered a little when I drove it home, but didn't die. We'll see what happens in the next few days - I may be posting again!
