97 yukon fuel pump

I have a 1997 Yukon w/5.7 that will not start, it is not getting fuel I checked the relay it is ok but before I can check the fuel pump it starts this has happened three times
What do you think is there other than the pump that can cause that??
Will a fuel work on and off ??
