is it true that u have to pull the whole engine to do a head gasket job on a caddy 4.6L 97"

Not only that but the odds are real high that the block could be damaged too. They have a common problem of the head bolts pulling the threads right out of the block.

Makes it a whole lot easier...
All the guys at Cadillac always drop the powertrain/cradle and all,out the bottom to do this.
More economical .

But just be prepared,the head bolt threads pull out of the block,usually is the failure,not just the headgasket itself.
GM has a repair procedure for this and a special thread repair kit.(requires a special tool also)

They recently came out with a new enchanced repair kit for the aluminum blocks.

The original repairs/kits,even when done by a qualified technician,sometimes didnt hold or last too long.Some did.
