97 Dodge misfiring after replacing sensors

97 Dodge misfiring after replacing sensors Sign In

I recently had to replace my cam positioning sensor when the pin popped out when I went to the auto parts store they insisted there was no such thing and insisted I replace the crank sensor after much frustration and so on I have replaced both the crank sensor and the cam sensor and replaced all wires and plugs but it is misfiring still and I am not sure what my next step should be can anyone help me out with this??

They probably referred to it as a dist hall effect switch.

If it's running that poorly I imagine the check engine light is on. Get the coded pulled to see what area is being affected.....

Engine runs, check eng light comes on have hooked it up to the scanner which states it is misfiring that is the only code that comes up.

I cant remember and I already returned the scanner but I do remember that it said misfire

It would help to know what cyl is being affected.

Say you were getting a P0303 a # 3 misfire, you could easily move the plug to cyl 1 & the wire to cyl 2 clear the codes & restart the engine if you now have a P0302 you know you have bad wires or P0301, bad plug, if you still have a P0303 then barring a bad cap the problem isn't in the ign system and other systems now need to be checked like a compression check on the affected cylinder. If easy to get to you could also swap injectors to see if the problem moves with the swap.

All this stuff could be checked easier with a scope but most guys don't have one in there garage & swaptronics works just as well, just a little more work but you have to know what codes you had & what you are getting.....

Got ya I will have to get with my brother inlaw and borrow back the scanner. Thank you for your time and I will be back in touch once I have better info.Blush
