I have a 96 pontiac grand prix with 180,000 miles on it.I have 2 major concerns with it.
# 1. My car will start and run fine while cold and continue to all day long without missing a bit.
But after driving for along period or runing for a while especially in hot weather and you shut it off
for 15 or 20 minutes or longer it will restart but runs terrible.
If you can get it to the open road it will eventually smooth out and run fine .If you cant get to the open road it will misfire very badly and eventually die. If you allow it to cool down it will start and run fine .
After it has cooled and you restart it it will run great without any misfire. When you start it cold it runs great and never misses at all . I have replaced all three coil packs and it still does the same thing. When you check the codes it says multiple cylinder misfire. Please help me figure this out .

#2. The factory anti theft system will at random prevent the car from starting. It does this when cold or hot, no set time of this happening. It has gotten worse over the past few weeks of driving the car. After you have waited five mintues it will start and run fine .I am a volunteer firefighter and do not always have five minutes to wait on the car to start. Could this be a relay or something , is there a way to bypass the anti theft device itself. Or could this be related to the above situation? Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated .

my short answer/guess to problem #1; sounds an awful lot like bad/leaking injector(s) to me. another possibility is a leaky fuel pressure regulator...has it been using a lot more fuel than normal lately? if so the regulator may be bad. the only way to check for fuel leakage through the injectors is with a fuel pressure gage. after the gage is hooked up start the car then shut it off. the pressure on the gage should remain constant for a specified amount of time. usually 2 minutes or so before beginning to fall off. I would have to know the engine size to give exact specifications. the most common engine is the 3.8L...normal pressure for this engine is 40-47psi. CAUTION: hook up and remove test gages to the fuel rail only on COLD engines FIRE HAZARD!!!

problem#2; your guess is as good as mine. i know of no way to bypass factory anti-theft systems. could be related to #1; thing to do is check out the pressures and then move on to the anti theft.

One of the other guys here will probably respond to your question and they may know alot more than me about anti theft. Also they may have a few more ideas about both of the problems you have....good luck!!
