96 chevy 5.7ltr running problems

have 96 chevy ck2500, 5.7ltr truck, 175K miles. Common code; tps sensor. changed sensor 3 times, new pig tail, dist cap/rotor, plugs/wires. code comes and goes with what seems like advanced timing to keep engine running smooth.
Also, without check engine light, rough running intermittantly. wants to stall, then idles fine. accelerates well then runs very rough and cuts out like I turned the key off, but then comes back. Sometimes it seems starved for fuel but mechanic said pressure is good after replacing fuel supply spider injectors. I also replaced fuel filter.

What are the code numbers? Did your mechanic check fuel pressure when the problem was occurring?
Does it only run rough at idle speeds?

I dont have the code numbers anymore. Been through this so many times, I have almost given up. Lately, my check engine light comes and goes.
I had the truck towed to mechanic because it would not start at all. They said nothing at all about the tps codes. they said that pressure was low and the spider tappets(?) needed to be replaced. Said all was well. Within 1 day, tps code came back. Lots of bucks, same problem.
When it is running rough, it does at idle and accelerated rpms.

I'd say start over again. Have the computer scanned to see what trouble code number(s) is being stored. Monitor fuel pressure with a test gauge when the engine is running rough.
Need some data to see which direction to take.

OK, thanks for the suggestions. Just to clarify; this has been lingering for 3 years. I replaced the tps cause when I had codes checked at Auto Zone, it keeps giving me a P0122 code.
Went to 1 mechanic 2 years ago, he could not locate the problem outside of the sensor itself, which I had just replaced myself. He replaced the cap/rotor.
Problem continued.
about 6 months ago; it would not start; had towed to dealer. they said it was bad pressure, replaced the spider. Started and ran, but still the other problems remained.
OK, I know I am all over the place, but do you think it could be a bad distributor? the problem is so extreme(half a day running great, other half barely will stay running). I will check pressure like you suggested.

Just remember, not of these tests mean anything unless they are performed while the problem is present.
