96 Mustang engine knocking	Sign In

'96 Mustang GT 4.6L V8 with @160k miles

I just bought the car about 2 months ago... and it's been problem after problem.
At first, everything ran smooth (which is why I bought it for $4500.)
about 3 weeks ago, things started going south, losing power, flashing Check Engine light, couldn't go more than 45mph...
hooked it up to OBD2 and got a few codes back that pointed to the EGR system and Ignition Coil Pack
replaced the EGR valve, EGR sensor, and replaced one of the Coil packs (would have replaced both, but 1 looked pretty new)
after that work, car ran better than it did when I first got it.
2 days ago, i checked the oil and air filter... BLACK oil and BLACK air filter. replaced air filter and changed the oil and oil filter.
yesterday, the engine started "knocking" and losing acceleration power. engine is idling about 900 & knocking.
pushing the gas pedal, more rapid & louder "knocking" and still loss of acceleration.
I opened the hood, and the "knocking" is coming from passenger side of the engine.

Any thoughts on what the problem is and how to fix it... @ how much $$ will it take?
need more info, answers to specific questions... i'll do my best to answer.
I know a little bit, but I know enough to know that I don't know much.

its hard to say could be just spark knock some times when you snap the throttle you'll get a short knock sound, usally spark knock considered normal. If its constant then i could say its not normal. Hard to say without actually hearing it.. Is there any codes if so what are they.
