96 Firebird fuel issues

I have a 96 firebird with a 3.8L that has been sitting for a few years. Changed all fluids along with plugs and wires. Car will crank but not start without a shot of ether. Even then it shuts off immediately after it has burned off. Fuel pump relay clicks on then off when key is turned on as it should. Checked all fuses. Checked ohms on each injector and voltage going to injectors when ignition is on. All good. When key is turned on it sounds as if fuel is going through fuel lines to motor but when I press needle on shrader valve all I get is air. No fuel through the rail. What else can I check? Or could it be just not enough fuel in the tank that's why I only get air?

You should be using a fuel pressure gauge. If you verify the pump is running and you don't have the proper pressure, you likely have a bad fuel pump or internal tank problem. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
