96 Dodge Neon turn over but won't start
I have a 96 Dodge Neon SOHC. It will crank but majority of the time won't start. Sometimes starts after sitting a while and usually will idle fine. Whenever I give it gas it stalls. So far I've changed the following or tested the following. Throttle position sensor Crank Sensor Fuel Filter Plugs Wires Coil Pack Fuel Pump is working Any ideas on what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Just hearing the fuel pump isn’t a guarantee that it’s producing the proper pressure. Have a fuel pressure test performed; the spec is 48psi. Test this during one of the no start periods; also have you checked for spark while the thing is just cranking and not starting? Dan. Canadian "EH"

Dan, Appreciate the info. On the fuel pump, I took the gas line off and verified that a steady stream of fuel was coming out. I haven't actually checked the pressure though. Also I didn't see it but I was told by a friend who was checking the spark plug firing that sometimes it did and sometimes it didn't. If the plug wasn't firing all of the time, what could that problem be? Thanks

Changed the fuel pump and still have the same problem. In the no start period, gas won't come out of the bypass valve on the fuel rail. Need ideas badly, tried everything.

here is my problem with my 96 neon, I was driving to the store, was at a stoplight when I heard a screeching noise, I hit the gas and my car wont pick up speed, the car would hiccup and finally stall out. as I was behind the car and pushing it out of the road I noticed antifreeze on the ground. When I opened the hood I noticed no water in the coolent in the bottle and when I did put some water into it, it looked like it was leaking from under the car. I tried to crank the car and it would crank, but it wont completely turn over. I checked under the car for any holes or signs for any leaks and their was none. I did have the plugs, plug wires, gas filter, air filter, and oil filter replaced not even 2 mos before this happened. I was told a number of things that could be wrong timing belt, head gusket, water pump. I dont have the money to replace all these and even the timing belt is bad enough, I would like to pinpoint this done if possible
