'96 Chrysler Sebring stalls... takes a while to get started again	Sign In

My '96 Chrysler Sebring convertible shuts off while under load. No 'check engine light' comes on.
I recently replaced the fuel pump and filter. With 103,000 mi. on it the fuel pump failed. Engine codes
indicated a lean out condition. After sitting for a few minutes, the car is difficult to start. After many tries
to start, it sputters....may idle.....then will run, but NOT under load. If I were to let the car sit overnight,
it will run fine. I'll drive it for a few miles and then the symptoms return......
Is it possible that there is water in the fuel system?? I tried a gasoline supplement and running a 'fresh batch'
of new gas in it. Is there a fuel system check/ bypass valve?

Lots of things are possible but actual testing is the only way to eliminate things and isolate the cause. You can't just expect someone to guess what the problem may be, you have to actually test these various possibilities. Drive with a fuel pressure gauge and determine if fuel pressure is the problem. Remove the fuel filter and see if anything is in the fuel.
