1996 Chevy 1500 4.3L V6

My dad's truck had been parked for about a year after he passed away without being started. About 6 months ago I started it and drove it to my house and it has remainded parked for about 6 months. I decided to see if I could get it going and use some just to keep it going. I put a battery in and tried to crank it. It would crank but not start. I thought it would likely be fuel so i tried poring a small cap of gas in the intake. It would fire up and run for a second. After doing some checking I found that the fuel pump relay never gets energised. Looking at the schematics i found that the ECM supplies voltage to the relay coil directly so this wasn't a fuse issue. I also found that I could jump the contacts between 87 and 30 to just put power on the fuel pump. I did this but did not hear the fuel pump running. I decided to ohm out the fuel pump and found that it was an open circuit. I replaced the fuel pump and strainer. I then placed the jumper on the relay points and I could now here the pump running. I decided to try and crank it with the jumper across the relay just to get it working before I trouble shoot the ECM supply to the fuel pump. The engine starts and runs fine for about 5 seconds and then dies. When it starts it revs kind of high and then it is like it runs out of gas. If I try to start it again it will start right back up, rev kind of high, and then die. Does this still sound like a fuel issue? Fuel filter?

Any help is greatly appreciatted.

Why don't you take a fuel pressure reading and find out?
