New to this hope it works.
1995 VW Jetta 2.0 five speed
The car started out doing the lurching jerk like you weren't giving enough throttle when you let out the clutch in first. If you shifted into second it stoped and drove normal. It got worse over a period of a few weeks to where it did it in first and second. I replaced the throttle positioning sensor no fix. The reason I need help is it drives fine in reverse no jerking lurching ect...
Any ideas would be great.

I've got the same car, gave me the same problem only when car warmed up and usually when it was above 80 out with a/c on. Hooking up to VAG COM wasn't a help. I did two things. First, I removed the IAC (little can looking thing that to the left of plenum) and sprayed it out with contact cleaner. Bently Manual says it should be buzzing or humming with engine running. The car ran better, but still wasn't quite right. Second with the same can of contact cleaner, I sprayed off the sensor dealy in the Mass air flow sensor. Repair manual said not to spray with anything but the thing was just coated with blow-by engine oil. Mass air flow sensor is a very expensive part, so spray off at your own risk. If cleaning of the IAC or mass air flow doesn't work, check out vac hoses/lines. Good luck. hope this helps.
