Search Auto Parts Search 95 olds 88 engine sub-assembly Sign up here!   Email This Post Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> Engine Troubleshooting whitey79 User Apr 10, 2007, 8:23 PM Post #1 of 4 (1840 views) 95 olds 88 engine sub-assembly Sign In my lil sister called me tonight and emailed me some pics of a bit of trouble shes having with her 95 olds 88. she lives 135 miles from me so hopefully we can figure this out and i can bring the right stuff to fix it for her, or send her in the right direction. she was having trouble steering and heard something break so she got out and seen this(enclosed pic or link to pic). from what i can tell its the housing bolts for the sub assembly. question is are these bolts replaceable or pressed in from the factory? she said the front end isn't sagging, and i once owned this car yrs ago before i gave it to her. she doesn't have the most reliable diagnosing ability either(had to ask me where to put oil in it awhile back). its loose on the rear side of the front end on boths sides. it appears to be attached to the frame along the wheel wells. she also said the sway bar was broke/rusted through. thats an easier enough fix no probs there. as usual any guidance is greatly appreciated. i hope i can figure this attachment thing out alright, or i might have to post a question about that also. like a rock my arse...chevys for life Attachments: carprob.jpg (83.4 KB)   carprob2.jpg (25.6 KB) Tom Greenleaf Ultimate Carjunky / Moderator Apr 12, 2007, 5:34 AM Post #2 of 4 (1828 views) Re: 95 olds 88 engine sub-assembly Sign In Holy Smokes!! DON'T LET ANYONE DRIVE THIS CAR!! This is like collision type damage and if deemed worth fixing it probably should go to a body shop first and expect more damage than just the mounts. The exhaust pipe is probably the only thing holding it there right now. With four of those sheared off there is certainly outrageous torque put on the front of this "H" frame and all should be replaced if this is worth fixing. I doubt you can stuff everything you would need in your own car or truck to deal with this. I'm surprised to see a cupped washer on the ground as you would think it would have fallen off right away when this completely broke off. There could be damage above too like the valve cover against the fire wall and hoses for fuel, heater, A/C ---- no telling without a total check out.
