I just bought a 95 Nissan Sentra. It had a bad oil leak and I thought that since I saw the oil around the head that the gasket was bad. I changed it and tighten the bolts and that problem went away. So I thought problem solved. Now when I was under the car I noticed the oil pan was wet and some droplets on the ground. It must have been leaking for awhile since I have oil all over the underneath of the passengerside. Even in the wheel well. I did notice the bolts to the oil pan are wet but tight. Does this mean I may need to change the oil pan gasket as well? And I have heard about the crankshaft gasket?? Where is that and would it need to be changed as well??

oil leaks are funky and a little oil makes a big mess. Leak's source is usually the highest and most forward of where found. Oil all over the oil pan could be from above it and probably is.

PCV systems can make gaskets leak much worse.

Just tightening bolts isn't the whole deal and sometimes can make things worse if not totally loose and then you need to know how that came to be??

Replace gaskets as needed. Clean stuff off if actively leaking to see the source.

Some area to pay attention to include: Valve cover gasket, pcv and hose if done that way, oil pressure switch, oil filter and some have housings with gaskets etc., the list goes on - even the oil filler cap could be a problem,
