i have a 95 firebird v6 3.4l with a blown head/gasket and i was wondering if i should fix the head even though they are pricy and its a lot of work or should i take the old engine out and replace it with a new one. (i have heard that it is easier to replace the engine) or if i should take the engine out and replace it does anybody know how too? or can you tell me a website to go to, to get instructions on how to take it out?

It might not hurt to spend a couple hours tearing the heads off. Upon close inspection you may find that just the gasket failed and may not need the heads replaced.

well im hoping its just the gasket and not the head too. but im starting to think that it might have other problems too because it looks like there is oil/antifreeze in the airintake and i have started it up a couple of time since this has happend and it wants to idle rough i have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running and i dont know if that is because of the head/gasket or if its because it has been sitting in my yard for about a month with out being run. do you know of a website that would give me step by step instruction on taking it apart or do you know? if so please let me know. when this happend it only ran hot one time but i know that one time could mess up alot of things but the temp got up to like 220-225 and it usually ran at about 195-200. thanks for any info you can give me its really appritiated

www.eautorepair.net is Mitchell On Demand. That is what I use at work and have used it for over 15 years. It will cost a little money but the documentation is just as good as the factory manuals. Don't waste money on Chilton or Haynes. Their books are only about 100 pages, a real manual has over 1000 pages. I'll step off my soap-box now.
