Ok folks lets all put our thinking caps on for this one.
I have a 1995 dodge neon automatic 2.0L engine vin "c"
Car will start,idle,warm up and drive just fine. Then without warning it will just die and immediately restart. Dies and restarts every time.
Fuel pressure is slightly high but not a problem. Good plugs and wires. All the normal maintainance has been done. Scanner shows no codes and all values normal. Power to coil is constant as engine dies. If it were'nt for the quick restart I would have more to work with. But everything keeps showing good as the engine will restart. Now check this out, the engine could sit for hours while running and never die, but once it does it may only die once or it could die multiple times in a minutes time or die once in a while. It seems like im loseing spark but cannot prove it. Im stumped on this one.
Any info would be great.

Arggh! Hide and seek problem! Just a thought: Can you get this or force this to die out with wiggling wires or spraying/misting water on connections or secondary ign parts? That might smoke this problem out,

Tom,
No I cannot recreate the problem doing tap and wiggle or water test.
I have Mithcell on Demand and Im also having a problem with my color codes not matching from the car to the wiring diagram on Mitchell. I was going to see if the ecm was loosing power but wiring color is different from diagram. Hate to probe wrong wire and get false reading.
Later last night It finally did something new. It started missing really bad and spit out a code 43. Found loose connection at coil pack (probably from too many wiggle tests)lol. I took the wiring harness end apart, slightly crimped the ends and reassembled. That fixed the missing problem but now im back to the dieing problem. Still could use some fresh ideas if you have any. I"d hate to just start swaping parts.
I just dont work that way.Thanks, Brian

This is right up there with fixing a string of holiday lights and I don't think anything but good luck at picking the likeliest area is going to help. By your description this just dies out for a split second and not long enough to find the gremlin.
How about using a good jumper wire (clip end type) and adding ground to key parts that should have it anyway?
Just an idea that might be the answer??

just to throw out an idea....i remember when i was at cadillac we would have some seville's come in with customer complaints of an intermittent stall while driving...starts right back up...sometimes it would not happen again for 1000 plus miles...no rhyme or reason to it....of course we could never duplicate the concern.....finally on one we installed an ignition switch..(it was under warranty) in an attempt to repair...had to try to ensure customer satisfaction.....well it repaired the problem.....since then we had a few others come in.....most out of warranty...again could not duplicate concerns....with customers permissions we would replace the ignition switches ,at their expense,in an attempt to solve the concerns.....we were right every time....
at the time.....the general (gm) had no tsb's (technical service bulletins) for this concern...
just a thought...hope i helped....

Tom,
I do want to thank you for your efforts and super quick replys on this matter. Its been a crazy few days dealing with this problem. I will look into the ignition switch. I will even try and see if my schematic will at least match from the switch to the ecm. Maybe can find a fault there. If I figure it out I will repost with answer so others will know what to follow up on.

 Summary to fixing The dieing problem.
As you know this car would start and die or start and run for days then start dieing again. Well it finally died completely. After some more extensive testing of all power leads and all computer grounds it turns out that the computer crashed.
Still showing all power in and out of computer and compuer grounds good all 5&8 volt refrences good. I hooked up with a friend who is an aircraft mechanic and he used the swag (sofisticated wild ass guess) method and determined the ecm was bad somehow. I replaced it and it started and not died since.
Just thougt i'd post this for anyone with a similar problem.
