Bought this car and it ran fine last week. I had it towed (has some body damage) today and for some reason it will not start. The only thing I can think of is when I ran the car last week, I locked the keys in it by accident while it was still running. I got the car to stall out and then disconnected the battery. The towing service used a slim jim to open the car today and towed it to my residence. I really dont think its related to the alarm but the acuras are a bit funky. It turns over well but does not fire and the timing belt is fine. I cant understand why it has (or seems to) have no spark to fire. I checked all the fuses and links. Checked to see if I can find a switch under the dash for the alarm, it has a pad connected to the keys to open and lock the doors and I played with that and made sure that all the doors/lids are closed. Its a gsr/1.8L.. please help Sue

Good Question. First I disconnected the battery and it kept running, then I pulled a wire from the cap and now ya got me thinking that a spark fried the ignition coil. It coughed a bit then cut out and I disconnected the battery. I just thought since I locked the keys in the car while it was running that the problem could be related to the alarm system and I may have to reset the ecu? Just trying to eliminate the possibilities before replacing the dist, plugs, wires, cap, igniter, coil ect.. Thanks

More than likely you caused a spike that fried the ignitor. I always replace this and the coil as an assembly because a bad coil will kill a new ignitor quickly. Steve

I just want to be sure because it did not seem like that was the issue when it stalled.. could you please tell me if I should buy at junk yard or on ebay? I really dont have much money to work with and which one should I buy first or can I have them tested? Are you inclined to think that if the alarm system was involved, it would not crank? Thank you so much

The best advice I can give you right now is check for spark at the plugs, check fuel pressure, and check injector pulse. We need to know exactly what is missing to properly diagnose the problem. Steve
