95 Pontiac grand am dying and making weird noise

So the car made a noise as if something like a fan was hitting another thing but this was only with the air on. The other day it started making the noise coming from the front of the car and then the car died. It started up again and checked the oil witch was really low so we put more in but it still makes the noise as iff somthing is being hit. What could it be?

If it is coming from inside the engine it's not good. 2.4 ltr. engines are bad about spinning bearings. moore info might be needed.
