95 Neon will not start no matter what the shop does Sign In

My 95 Plymouth neon stalled on my way home one day and wouldnt start up. I got it towed to a shop and they have now had it for a month and it still won't start. They replaced the tank and fuel pump and fuel filter. They tried a new throttle position sensor, distributer, throttle body, crank sensors, computer, and replaced the plugs like 4 times. They are trying another computer within the week also. They have great compression, great fuel pressure, and good spark. The timing is perfect also. I also replaced the plugs and wires two weeks before it died. THE DAMN THING STILL WON'T START!!!!! I am going to be stuck paying for all this trouble shooting also. Is there anything you can think of that i can suggest to them to get it out of their shop and back in my driveway running? (I would like to add that the shop is the best within 20 miles and they would not bullSh!t me to run up the cost)

Does it crank, click, or no sound? Could be Body Control Module. To hard to diagnose without seeing it.

CRAZY THOUGH, all that stuff replaced and no joy.

the shop apparently does not know what they are doing because you would not replace any of the items that they replaced without first diagnosing and testing to make sure component is bad.You should not be charged a diagnostic fee because it sounds to me like they just started replacing items without testing.Maybe they don't know how to test or don't know how components operate or don't have proper testing equipment.I would get your car out of there and to a qualified shop even if its farther away.Make sure asa ase certified.

Totally agree with autojoe
Why didn't they get the scanner on it to test, this tool will diagnose the problem very quickly when in the right hands. Fuel pumps needs changing when it fail the pressure test, but not before checking the fuel filter and a leak down test .
Sounds to me they are just throwing parts at it and waiting for the jackpot. (Sad)

Agree with all here except that shop. Plugs replaced FOUR TIMES suggests they have reason to believe spark is the issue but must have tested that to some degree.

a maybee but still get out of there: This may have been so flooded that the metal inside the combustion area won't take spark properly - don't know how but it's happened a few times over the years to me - new plugs, heated up old ones - nothing worked but leaving them out for a LONG time and blowing air in there. Starting fluid can help or I must have the last known HOT box which makes random spray of high voltage sparks and will get an engine to run for a few seconds or more. Just that will correct the flooded problem if that is this elusive problem and then good, known dry (heated) or new plugs will work.

When a shop runs into a snag like that they should get help themselves - not just keep your car forever!
