95 Ford Crown Vic Coolant concentration Sign In

I recently changed my water pump on my 95 Crown Vic and when refilling the system, I didn't have quite enough coolant for a 50/50 mix, so I topped it off with water. I have noticed that the engine is running hotter than in the past. While it's not overheating, it's a noticeable increase on the gauge. Would a weaker concentration cause the engine to run hotter? Or should I turn my attention somewhere else?

Thanks in advance,

Robert

It won't cause it to run hotter but it will destroy your cooling system if there is too much water. You need to get the correct mix in there.

Getting % to 50/50 once off if by a lot can be a pest to calculate and make sure you check existing mix where it's fully mixed now.
This chart may help and depending on how far off you are may not take much pure concentrate to get it to 50/50 which is the most universal suggested mix. A tad over or under isn't a problem - a lot off can be.

Watch out for accuracy of testers - most (of many of my own) are off a little to useless brand new.

Chart...........

Some antifreeze container print this on the bottle as well if that's hard to read,
T
