94 sundance trouble

I have a 94 Plymouth Sundance, It's been running fine until a few days ago. It pings like it has no oil but i checked everything and it seems to be fine. Engine oil is right below maximum on the stick and the trans fluid is fine. I ran the car and checked under the hood and it looked completely fine. Nothing wrong, but when i give it a little gas it pings like it's dry. There is no leaking or anything. Any clue why it pings?
