94 dodge ram2500 van POPPING NOISE Sign In

I have a 94 ram van with a 318 engine . It ran great until I let it set in the yard for a year or so. I;m now trying to sell it but when I excellerate I hear a popping noise in the engine. I have changed oil and put new gas in it as well as new plugs and wires. Timing maybe? Help please

popping sound usually indicate backfiring through the throttle body.. if the van is high mileage it's possible timing chain might have skipped a tooth. Possible catalytic converter plugged. Might be old gas still in lines or fowled plugs because of the old gas.

thanks, that would narrow it down. Have new plugs and wires in it and a half tank of new gas. Probably the timing would be the easyest to check next

not saying this is it, but i had a 90 dodge do about the same thing after sitting for an extended time, on mine the lifters had bled down (is what i was told), it took quite awhile for it to level out and run decent. again just a thought.
