93 2.2L Cavalier misfiring Sign In

The Cav stalled in the middle of traffic. Waiting about 5 minutes it started up again but was misfiring all the way home. When I removed the 4 plugs they were all carbon coated. I changed the air, gas filter, plugs, pvc valve, and it still has a misfire. When i give it gas and hold the pedal down a little the putt putt is more noticeable coming from the tail pipe. Check engine light did not appear before the engine shut down. Hope someone can help me with this.

This is a update on my recurring problem.
Thanks Dan for your insight. I did find one vacuum line that was broken and fixed it. But still the same problem. This evening I put on a new wire set and again disappointment. It still is misfiring. I am now at a loss as to what could possibility be wrong. I'm into it for some $$ now and sure need some more help.
Thanks

Have a check of all the vacuum lines; one in particular that being the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor’s vacuum line.
They were known for rotting away, leaking and not supplying vacuum to the sensor itself. When this happens the sensor sends the wrong info to the computer. The computer in turns sends extra fuel to the engine; thinking the engine is under heavy load (no vacuum). Which could explain your fouled spark plugs?
I believe you’ll find the sensor bolted to the center of the firewall; it’s rectangular in shape with three wires and a vacuum line going to it.
This is just a guess but well worth a check?
Dan.
