Started to drive to gas station, chugging, cutting out. Eventually killed and would not start. Changed spark plugs, dist cap, etc. Still not starting so had it towed home. Sat a couple days and we kept trying. A couple days of sitting and it started. Has run ok since, although have noticed that it will run well with a full tank of gas and not so well with lower gas. Last week...same hill...almost empty gas tank...dumb, I know. Same situation. Won't start. Have added gas, heet, have tried a different battery, pulled and cleaned dist cap. It seems like to wants to start-it will almost catch & run for about 3 seconds. Any obvious thoughts that I'm missing? Thanks! When you run a car out of gas, it pumps a lot of air through the pump which overheats it and causes some severe wear and many times, failure when they cool off.
