91 jeep comanche back fire now no start

I have a question for everyone. My 1991 Jeep Comanche 4.0 w/manual transmission has been running good everyday driving about 300 miles a week on it with about 85,000 miles on rebuilt engine and Saturday morning on my way home from work I was going about 35 mph and it bogged down, then back-fired with black puff of smoke and stopped running. When tring to turn the engine over, it backfires and will not start. Only work that has been done on it recently was a new harmonic balancer replaced about 4 weeks ago because it started rubbing the timing cover. Do yal think it jumped time? Trying to figure where to start looking. Any help would be great!! Thanks
