91 honda Accord Flashing D4 button

My 91 Accord runs great but every once in awhile the D4 button will flash and it sends the transmission into limp home mode.
I can shut the car off and restart and it is fine but it soon does it again. It will have spurts where it does not happen for weeks at a time.
Could something be getting loose or possibly wet?? I find the speed control sensor pops up alot when I research it...
Any help is appreciated...
