Rare but if the car uses a vacuum booster there is a nylon thing that plugs into it that could be at fault. The item's name escapes me but all the vacuum to the power brakes must be intact or the engine will be as confused as I amCrazy T

The problem could be that check valve. It could also be a leaking booster. Start the engine and listen for a hissing noise around the booster. You can also spray bursts of carburetor cleaner all over the booster. If the engine RPM increases for a few seconds it confirms a leaking booster and must be replaced. If the vacuum line is good and the check valve and grommet are good, chances are the booster is at fault. Not an uncommon problem for the age of the vehicle.

If you replace the booster, unblolt the master cylinder and make sure you save the actuating rod inside the booster in case the new one doesn't come with one. DO NOT loosen the brake lines from the master cylinder. There is enough room to let the master cylinder move forward with the lines intact. This way you won't have to bleed the master or the brakes after the new booster is installed. A big timesaver.

I agree with you guys that the booster maybe at fault but before they condemn it I would like to know the state of charge and the condition of the battery?
What maybe be happening is that when the brakes are applied; turning on the brake lights and waking up the ABS module; drops the system voltage down to a point were the computer starts to go brain dead and shuts the car down?
I know that they haven’t said anything about having to boost the car but it may just be the beginning of the end for the battery or alternator?
