Okay i have this 88 dodge ramcharger with a 318 in it...the problem started with a little rough running in cold weather..then graduated to stalling at an idle when I stopped at red lights etc. I filled the gas tank the other day and within 15 minutes it stalled while i was driving at about 35mph and would not recrank. We replaced fuel pump and filter and spark plugs thinking that would remedy the problem but when it still wouldnt turn over my husband discovered its not firing. It will however crank and run if fuel is added directly to carburator.
We are stumped any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you could please avoid use of abbreviations to avoid any confusion on my end. Thanks sooooo much in advanc

You can help to avoid confusion by not saying it wont crank or fire but will run when primed with fuel at carburetor which it doesn't have - it's fuel injected so that is a throttle body you are talking about.
What I gather is you lack fuel delivery but it "cranks" the engine fine by starter motor. Now focus on why it doesn't deliver fuel. Does the fuel pump even pump at all or make a sound? If so then what is the fuel pressure? If not then we can chase that.
Stop tossing parts at this unless you like tossing possibly better parts than some new ones you put in and confuse your problem even more.
#1 = Does the fuel pump even make a noise (buzz sound) when first putting key into run position without cranking engine?
Begin with that much at first,
