88 Nissan Pathfinder losing electrical power

Hello i have a 88 Nissan pathfinder with a 3.0L V6 it does have 300,000 miles
It was running well until about 2 days ago when i tried to start it and had little power, jumped it (off a Chevy aveo v4) and it started but was ruff until started when it ran well for about 5 minutes then the rpms started to drop and it said the battery was losing power but when i gave it a little gas the battery meter shot up to a normal level. When i let off the gas the rpm went down and just keep going down till gave it gas, let idal until it died (rpms keep droping) Jumped it a second time and same thing. Tried starting it today and jumped off a Chevy astro (v6) and had no problem starting, tested alternator and that wasn't the problem (disconnected battery still ran) and left off of battery until died. Left battery disconnected and went back about an hour after that and tried to start (off battery only) and it had no power left. Going to replace the battery and after that does anyone have any suggestions?

Replace that battery first, clean up + replace any needed connections and take some real volt readings with it running.
Do yourself a favor and charge the new battery with a charger before installation. It's always best to charge low batteries with a charger and not just letting a vehicle do it. New batteries are NOT necessarily fully charged when you get them either - know that,

i just had the battery in to schucks and they tested it and said that it was fine and the altinator was also fine i think it must have a short somewhere in the wire
|

Forgive me if I'm missing something here; You said the vehicle will run without battery connected as a test for the alternator - that concept went out with the Eisenhower Administration!
May cause harm too - don' t do that.
Do I see that this battery went dead while disconnected? If so - it's junk no matter what Chucky Cheese says!
Battery over 3-4 years old - it's junk! They self destruct going dead alone as they are not Lithium Ion batteries.
Get yourself a battery "Maintainer" which will charge a battery also. Under $20 at Wally World and a power port voltmeter (digital thing - plugs into cig lighter) ~$13 or a multimeter $10 at Wally World too - better stuff if you want available.
Testing is futile as you said it can spike and work so if it on a good moment it will test fine - alternator and battery work with each other and can kill each other. I didn't make the rules on that - must have been thought up by some dating service
Seems like it can be intermittent which puts all connections in doubt so clean them all up - wire brushed and greased. Fuses stay blown so not likely a fuse.
Get some on vehicle testing and results to go from here,
