My 87 4.0L Cherokee with Throttle Body has started dying when I'm in Freeway traffic after it has reached operating temperatures. If I keep the RPM's up it does not die. When it dies I have to wait sometimes 20 minutes and then it will start again. I have also had success taking off the Negative cable and pausing for a minute or so. It has had a loud fuel pump since I purchased it a few months ago but has just recently started dying. The negative cable is too big for the post as the previous owner used a red positive cable for the negative cable. Based on posts I've seen thus far on this site, I think it may be a case of a poor ground that is somehow affected by engine temperature or maybe crankshaft position sensor or maybe a dirty throttle body. Thank you for the help

Hey Russ Your going to need to determine if its a loss of spark or fuel when it stalls and doesn't restart. Test for spark . Take a fuel pressure reading with a fuel pressure gauge. Its known that the fuel pump has been noisy ,I sure wouldnt rule that out.. Try a dash of starting fluid in the throttle body ..see it it starts or tries to,if so,fuel related. CAUTION:Use starting fluid carefully and sparingly..<< too much is not good at all >>....a quick, light spray(Very little) is all thats needed.... Jim
