Hi,

Fixed the post so whole topic wasn't just in the subject line - it's all there though now where it belongs.

OK: Flood water emersing starter would be an issue. If other things are working you might want to check it power get's to it both main power cable and the smaller wire gets power to "excite" or trigger it to start mode.

It isn't designed nor many motors in cars to be emersed. Most starters can be taken apart - and perhaps some junk could be cleaned up or easier with a new one if that one just won't crank with any testing. Almost without doubt if water was up to seats the motor was submerged and water got inside it. Normal dusty debris over time would make conductive mud that will kill it.

Think hard about saving this car. If you have PW, PDL those motors will not like it either. Brake parts will fail but not right away. Water may have gotten in all CV joint boots and those will give way over a much shorter time than they would have now.

Car/Automotive things are "Water Resistant" but not waterproof.

If there's a chance water got in engine check all fluids for water. Crank by crankshaft bolt and see if engine can even turn if it's been a while rust will seize it. If recent you have to act quick to save an emerged engine if so.

You may want to take spark plug out for first crank as if there's tons of water in intake anything it could suck in and crunch the engine too. It's a bummer - things to check all over.

Starter alone for now would work if replaced - just use common sense if you want to fix up this car at all,

T
