I have a 1986 Toyota Tercel with a 3A 4 cyl engine and 4 speed. The car had sat for a few years before I got it. I cleaned out the tank, fuel lines, carb and added a new fuel filter. The car ran ok but didn't have a lot of power. I came across a reconditioned carb, put it on and it ran fantastic. Yesterday it died like it was out of gas. I had a half tank. Couldn't start it back up. Towed home and it started right up. Today the same thing. Died, towed , started right up and is running now. Help!?

You have to catch it at the point it dies,...a bad coil and parts of could be the problem but its hard to say, you'll gonna have to check it when it dies again...such as the fire at the plugs for onething even checking the fuel pressure will likely show something.

Agree with dave

Your going to have to see if its loss of spark or fuel when it stalls.

I remember replacing many Ignitors and some pickup coils(signal generators) inside the distributors on older Toyota's .
Some distributors have to replaced as one assy on some models.

Just a thought

Jim
