Hello,
I have an ''83 chevy blazer (k5) w/ a 305 engine with about 180k but less on the engine as I put a newer one in. All of a sudden it has no spark.

I have:
1) replaced entire distributor (including module and condensor)
2) replaced cap and rotor (including coil)
3) checked that I do have 12v at coil.

What else could be wrong here? I know I''m not getting spark as I''ve used a timing light and examined the plugs directly.

Is there a computer that could be the problem? How can I diagnose more things here?

Thanks for the help!, my plow is useless w/o this truck!

Have you physically checked to make sure that the distributor is turning? (timing chain?)

Definately check if dist rotor is turning as Loren said.

Also - was scratching head as to why no spark with all that you listed??

Guess/Maybe: Coil and the wires may be the problem. Make sure that some dang grounding thingy (nice TomCrazy) swapped over when doing the coil and that the spring loaded carbon pile is springy so it touches rotor.

This may have had the common module failure or wires inside now fixed and the coil swap might have failed. The metal thingy is like an "L" thing that goes under one of the hold down screws and I think it can be left out by mistake or fall if you weren't looking??

Couldn't find any great pics of the set up but here's one to look at anyway,

Ok - That's a better pic. I'm thinking of the hook like thing all metal shown top rightish in that pic,
T
