I have a 79 International 2ton truck with a 345 gas engine and a llison transmission with about 200000 miles on her . Well To start off with it started losing power I could hold it to the floor and it would go over 45 and took forever to get there . I found a clogged fuel filter and changed the pump not sure how it was . Then It started backfiring and bucking after that . So I replaced the plug wires and plugs and installed a new cap and rotor . This has the prestolite distributer . Things seem to be better so but no power . I rebuilt the carb and didn't find much crap in it . I timed this at 5 degrees BTC . Took it out and it takes off fast but still slow to build up speed and once it hits 40 if I put my foot into it nothing but if I back off and slow it back down it might take off . What could I be missing ? Control module ? Bad carb ? It has fresh gas and has been run everyday for months .Just started the last couple weeks . I also checked the cylinders for compression and evry cylinder was 115 to 125 except one and it has 90 .

Just a wild guess, here....Check for exhaust backpressure. Check centrifugal advance, vacuum advance, total advance. Let us know the results. Doubt if the problem, but a fuel pressure test might be handy? I would think 5-7 psi should be okay? Also, give us a vacuum reading at idle and at 2500 rpm. Loren SW Washington
