78 dodge starts and idles until the automatic choke comes off then shuts off

I have a 78 dodge 4x4 and the truck will start and idle until the automatic choke comes off then it will shut off.
I have changed the fuel pump, new fuel lines, new fuel in the gas tank, new plugs and wires, checked for vac leaks....this is frustrating. anyone have any ideas?

more than likely your eng is running extremely lean . the choke is giving the eng enough extra fuel to compensate . recheck for vac leaks ,try spraying carb cleaner at suspect areas with the small tube on it , if sure there are none, check the mixture screws try 1 1/2 - 2 turns out after turning in gently all the way in. still lean ? dissasemble carb check for plugged holes (jets) float level and all tubes in place .
