I have a 79 Winnebago Brave with a 440 chrystler engine. The block numbers reflect it is a 78 440, while the carter thermoquad numbers reflect IT is from 79. The other thermoquads have the fuel feed on the side, while this one is in the back. It is an 800-850 sized carb. In researching the carb, I found these to be built with a special resin for the main body, which stays 20 degrees cooler than other carbs. My problem is a whole in the main body. I cant help but think there is a replacement part for the main body and a rebuild kit to get it running again. The rebuild kit is easy enough, but the carb is difficult to research for other parts. Does anyone know where I can find a parts diagram for Carter replacement parts numbers? Any info on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Ah, the thermoquad carbs, I remember them well. One good backfire and the thing was toast. lol You may want to research remanned carbs, or even Holleys. It would probably be cheaper for you to just do a swap out than it would to try to overhaul. I have used many remanned units and have had no problems right out of the box, except for a few minor air/fuel mixture adjustments. Steve
