Search Auto Parts Search 5.3 liter Chevy Fuel Problem Sign up here!   Email This Post Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> Engine Troubleshooting bdez4 New User Sep 28, 2010, 1:52 PM Post #1 of 4 (6793 views) 5.3 liter Chevy Fuel Problem Sign In I've got a 2002 Chevy 1500 LS 5.3 ltr. 4x4 ext. cab. 77000 miles I am having a fuel problem Friday i drove over 200 miles and then on Saturday i drove 160 miles and truck died on highway. Thought it was the fuel pump and still may be. On Sunday after i hauled it home I started it and it idled for a couple of minutes then would die. I checked all the fuses that had anything to do with fuel checked the relay all seam good. Monday I changed the fuel filter and it ran i drove it for about 5 minutes and it ran good until I pushed throttle down about half way it would then start to die I would let off and would run fine. Then let it idle for about 5 minutes in the driveway. I then drove it about 7 miles at about the 5th mile I floored it and it ran just fine. But about a half a mile from home it died. Today i was told it may be the fuel regulator I pulled the vacuum line off and no gas came out and was told if no gas comes out it is good. I thought that if a fuel pump is bad it is bad do they get weak? Or is there something else that may be causing this problem? Use a fuel pressure gauge and measure the fuel pressure. Here are the specs Measure with the Key On Engine Off with the fuel pump commanded ON.
