Fuel unless carefully preserved and stored out of weather will be an issue. Decide whether you want to get rid of all of it or try to use a solvent(s) that may allow it to burn thru. Battery would be junk by now unless you left it on trickle maintainer.

Brakes could be rusted so be VERY careful till you can feel a brake pedal and with first few stops. They may need real work to work properly after that long.

How was it stored while parked? Anything done for this or just left it?

You can save it but outdoor time takes its toll and there will be things to do. Begin with a new fully charged battery. From there you'll find out how much or perhaps be lucky and not too much will need doing to make it road ready again,

First need to know how much is in it. Don't know every layout for all cars but you might be able to siphon it out or up to take the gas tank right out. There could be several approaches depending on what's available to you to do something with gas that old,

Also it would be a good idea to do all the maintenance items on car, fluids, tune up stuff, filters, etc. Give it a good look over. Check all the rubber parts, belts, hoses, tires. Like Tom mentioned, sitting outdoors really takes its toll. It's actually harder on some parts than driving it..........

There are some good additives for the fuel, I believe Tom mentioned a seafoam product in another thread that works real well

Well if you can do most of this yourself then you should be able to get a lot more done than taking it in. At least do the 3 main fluids, engine, trans, cooling,

The inspection is pretty much common sense, just look & feel.

If the tires are more than 6 years old, they should be replaced. Just look at the DOT # on the tires the last 4 digits are the week & year, i.e 0110 would be the 1st week of 2010, so if yours say 0804 that would be the 8th week of 04 and a good idea to change out regardless of what the tread or sidewalls look like........
