2006 silverado having problems starting Sign In

I have a 2006 chevy silverado with the 53.l engine that has recently shown a problem. Within the last month it has gotten worse. When I turn the ignition, the motor will crank. ndsthe motor will start-sometimes immediately, other times it will take anywhere from 10 seconds to thirtry seconds of cranking before it starts up. The only thing I have done is replace the battery but that is mainly because the battery was dead. I wish I could give more details but I really don't know where to start. I am looking for some advice where to start and some common things that cause this problem. Any help would be great.

You need to put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what the fuel pressure does during this period. Also note what the pressure does when the key is shut off, whether it holds pressure for a while.

just for reference-what should the pressure range be for nominal operation?

Fuel Pressure (Key ON, Engine OFF) ---- 385-425 kPa (55-62 psi)

You should see this almost immediately and it should hold within 5 PSI for 1 to 2 minutes when shut off.
