I have a 2006 mazdaspeed6 with 350000. The dealer(who has done all service) tells me I need a 30000 mile service which will cost $500.00one dealer and $349.00 at another 10 miles down the road. Their reasoning for this expense is that this particular car has a turbo intercooler,,,,,,,,. They want to remove the intercooler and check for deposits? Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? I am aprrehensive to jump into a rather large expense if not truly necessary. Warranty issues?,,,I.E. if I do not do this service will it effect warranty,, If I do this service will it again be truly necessary?

Any input would be truly appreciated as I have been playing the "dealer's shuffle" and have had little input on other forums. Maybe because the car was newly introduced in the states in 2006 and is now not being offered in U.S. in 2008

Here's what I know..

When you purchase a vehicle with a "new car warranty", you basically enter into an agreement with the manufacturer that the manufacturer will provide a warranty, say 3years/36k miles or whatever, depending on which vehicle you purchase, and that you will take care of the necessary maintenance...
By maintenance,I mean what's recommended by the manufacturer at said intervals.....read your owners manual ...service scheduled maintenance and do as they recommend....if its not recommended by the manufacturer then your not obligated to have it performed....
By not having recommended maintenance performed,it can affect warranty to the certain part of the vehicle...
for example ,if there was an internal engine failure and oil changes were not performed as required, and it is determined that to be leading to the cause of failure, then the warranty on that concern would not be honored.
Also ,your not obligated to have maintenance performed at the dealer....you can have it done at any shop....just REMEMBER to keep all receipts and make sure they alll have the vehicle identification number (vin) on them as well as the date and mileage......
hope this helps...
