2006 Dodge Stratus SXT 2.4L V4 The car has two mufflers on one line. The muffler under the middle of the car dislodged from the rear exhaust pipe (cracked the seal and weld around it). It is still on tight to where it won't fall off, but makes a horrible noise, off centered by about an inch. Also the pipe behind the catalytic converter bent. I'm not to worried about the bent pipe since it does not seem to cause any difference in power but the noise bothers people a 1/2 mile away, lol. I cannot buy the pipe behind the cat as they do not sell it, I have to spend approx. 300 for the direct fit cat, this is why I'm not to concerned about that. I am a courier and drive approx. 250 miles per day. I am also on an extremely tight budget. My question is, is that first muffler (under the middle of the car) necessary, I am tempted to cut the pipe at each end of it and replace the muffler with pipe. Since I do not have the funds to replace it. There is the standard muffler at the tail. Also the system from rear muffler to the manifold (unbolts from there) is all one piece (welded together). I have disconnected the exhaust system and have it set aside so I can provide pictures of it if need be. Thanks in advance for your help.

Just take it to a custom exhaust shop and ask them what they can do for you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
