2005 ford ranger trouble starting up Sign In

I recently put in 2 new heads as well as replacing 1 injector. New plugs and wires. Seems as though it turns over and over before if will start. Then once it is warmed up it will fire right up even though now it seems like it's struggling starting when its warm. I tried a bottle of fuel injector cleaner and nothing. I tried a bottle of fuel stabilizer and nothing. Any thoughts or Ideas? I'm wondering if maybe its a fuel filter. Any help greatly appreciated.

It's been all apart recheck all work you did. Parts may not be right, right fit or failed?
It can run at all then this suggests loss of fuel pressure held would check that and whole
job has a lot of things and places to have something wrong,

Yes, it would appear you are losing prime in the fuel supply overnight. That would mean it's leaking down from either the engine side or the fuel pump side. If it runs good, odds are it's the fuel pump side. The way you confirm this problem is with a fuel pressure gauge and see if it holds pressure when the engine is shut off and how quickly it builds up pressure when the key is turned on.

Although I just don't know...and you are probably right ii am just having a hard time believing its the fuel pump even though most signs point to that because there are times i can go out after it has sat all night or after a 12 hour shift at work and It fires right up. Also I get it out on the open road and drop the hammer and it never misses a beat. I am going to take your advice and get the pressure checked on it though

That's because you just don't understand what we are telling you.

The fuel pump has a check valve in the outlet that prevents the fuel from siphoning back into the tank when shut off. If it does it takes a while for the pump to prime and fill all the lines to build pressure. This is why I asked you to look at pressure and see if it holds when shut off.
