2005 Saturn vue issues

Hello I have a 2005 Saturn vue 2.2 liter and I am having some serious issues. Over the last week I noticed the car was starting to have troubles starting but would run fine once started. Which led me to believe it was a battery issue, so I went to get a new battery. I hooked up everything and all dash light and everything electrical worked but the car would not crank. I was upset because this is my only car and I was far from home and couldn’t get the car on, I made sure everything was hooked up right and check all connections and everything was fine. I checked all ignition fuses and all were good as well. After sitting for a bit the car would attempt to start and then die shortly after. I threw in the old battery and got the car to start barely and had it running but now I had no power steering and no dash lights.I am pretty sure this car has an electric power steering motor, I hurried home and am now attempting things, I’m not sure if it’s the alternator or what. Any help is greatly appreciated as I need a car urgently

You need to be more clear on what your issue is. Do you have a cranking problem or a starting problem? Is the starter cranking the engine but it just won't fire up or is the starter not cranking the engine? Do you have a security indicator message or flashing LED? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

?? New battery worse? Could happen. It's more likely that connections of battery cables are poor - both positive and negative need to be good at both ends. Also engines ground to body metal must or nothing else would work. IDK how you checked fuses but not by sight rather a test light best see them work. Don't blame an alternator just yet it's screwed up more than just that hope you got to home base this may take some testing things out to be sure as you can be. Do you have even a cheap multimeter for volts and ohms at least? T

Sorry I wasn’t more clear. I have been messing around with both batteries and both are doing the same which makes me think it’s something else. I turn the key the car will start but it struggles to do so, and 8/10 it instantly dies. I can get it to stay running after a lot of trying but when it’s on I have no power steering, which was working before the battery change.

You're going to have to do some testing, starting with a fuel pressure test. The power steering may be a separate problem but concentrate on getting the car running first.
