2005 CRV - Poor Fuel Economy

For the past 6 months or so, my Honda CRV has had poor fuel economy. It seemed to start shortly after a service that included a "fuel system tune-up." The performance of the car did subjectively improve after that service. However, I used to get about 280-300 miles/tank if I drive til the fuel light comes on, but recently have been getting about 220 miles/tank. Also, a few months after that service, the check engine light came on and I was told by the dealer that I needed a new catalytic convertor for $1800, but that I should wait as it might just be "a bad batch of gas". Indeed, the check engine light turned off on its own and has not recurred. However, the fuel economy remains low. The tires are properly inflated. The oil is changed regularly. The engine air filter has been replaced. The spark plugs were replaced about 50K miles ago but are supposed to be good for 100k miles. Any ideas?
The car is a 2005 Honda CRV, 2.4 liter 4-cycle engine with about 250k miles.

start with a free scan - post any and all codes.
the use of a scanner would allow the technician to easily observe many readings- everything from temperature, air flow, vacuum, and fuel trims- as well as the o2 sensor readings confirming fuel metering.
what parts were changed AND were they OEM or aftermarket?
PS this was a Honda authorized dealer

Do get info and post as kev2 suggests:
Some of my own comments on this at large: Mod view can 'ping' off of where your post was transmitted from and be wrong but if so this car is used in mid-Atlantic near coast side of that state.
It's been FAR colder for months on end in much if not most of the US and that alone consumes more fuel. Fuel is altered with formulations for regions and seasonally. Perhaps 200 different formulas not all will achieve the same MPGs. I doubt that changed but the temps and driving conditions sure did vs any other year since long before this car was made.
Plenty of miles on this thing for assorted specs to be at their limits of useful life.
For actual MPG there are so many variables that expected # is greatly a guess or to compare with another and not much more IMO. You are using a warning light and how many miles registered vs IMO more dependable how many gallons you travelled for what given distance. Either OK but don't like to rely on some light which is likely set to light lower than I would care for so suggest you get fueled up before getting so low if only because I also believe it's better for the fuel pump.
Factor that time if you do that you just allow car to warm up enough before moving at all if you do and needed to clear windows to even drive it when all vehicles get ZERO MPG to average in.
In short, this might be normal for an exceptional year.
I give you credit for paying attention and that it runs at all at the miles suggesting you are doing something right,

I guess codes may show up even though the check engine light is not on at this time?

It stores codes in history if the battery hasn't been disconnected.
