My 2004 Sebring convertible gradually decreased acceleration, even though I was trying to accelerate while on the interstate. I pulled over to the shoulder and the engine would not start. I tried getting a jump, but that did not work. It was towed to a dealer and was diagnosed as a cam position sensor. The service manager later said that the cam position sensor was burned out from the inside out and would require an additional estimated 4 hours to take apart the engine and look for what is causing the burn out. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this?

Does the dealer have a diagnostic tool? With one of them, they simply plug it into your car and it can determine the problem 95% of the time. Saves time on YOU paying them to look for the problem for 4 hrs.

Arggh! Have heard of that but hasn't happened to me - yet! My guess is it's like a burned out like bulb and the problem is the socket which would be inside and hard to know for sure what it will take until you are in there. This could be legit!
