2004 Corsa Car Problem - please help! Sign In

Hi there,

I hope someone is able to help me! Just before Christmas, my Vauxhall Corsa 2004 model broke down. I had 2 different roadside assistant guys come and try and re-start for me and both were unable to do so. The indication is that the issue is a problem with the throttle body but they have advised to take to a garage for further investigation. I am in an expensive area so reluctant to rush it in to a garage I'm not familiar with until I know and understand a bit more about what the problem.

The car basically keeps turning over but wont start. Initially, both roadside assistant guys thought it was a connection problem and spent ages trying to find the connection fault. It was concluded though that it was the throttle body as once you disconnect part of the throttle body, the car then starts but there is no acceleration. Since then, a friend of mine cleaned the throttle body but the car still will not work and suggested the fault could lie with the car's computer as when the roadside guys were trying to find the connection fault, they disconnected the car from the computer. I have been advised that only a Vauxhall garage are able to re-configure these settings. Since I have now cleaned the throttle body, it has been suggested that the problem could simply be a case of taking the car to a Vauxhall garage to get the computer re-programmed. However, my concern is that I dont want to take it to a Vauxhall garage if this doesnt turn out to be the problem as I'm worried about the problem being something else and I want to avoid where possible a hefty garage bill!

Does what I have described make sense to anyone and can anyone agree/disagree with advice I've been given? I have very limited knowledge on cars so keen to get as much as advice as possible!

Many thanks in advance for anyone's help :-)

I can give you the required testing to isolate the cause but barring some in depth tests, you're limited to the crystal ball method.

To me it sounds like a crank sensor starter fly wheel not kicking in.

Could you expand a little bit more on this....That way we'll all be on the same page......

Who knows....you may help someone else with the same problem who is frantically searching the forum....

This guy has already gotten under my skin with his shooting from the hip. I've been warning him and he's been ignoring me. He's locked out now.
