Hey. I don't have mechanical experience. Basically, I was doing drifting related things. I was definitely burning the clutch as it was depressed with high RPMs in 2nd gear. And here comes the lovely aroma of burnt clutch. I decided that was enough and as I began driving, I noticed that the RPMs in all gears were way too high. It was just revving up with very little response of forward movement. Minutes after it was hard to shift, as if it were locked, and a slowed to a stop with the clutch completely disengaging from the transmission. Now, the car will still start. I am not able to move. The engine will not stall in gear (I am able to shift). Can anyone give a diagnosis/repair of all issues. Thanks.

The only advice I have for you is to sell the car and get a bicycle. You shouldn't own a car. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Drift racers have a very purpose built vehicle with very expensive parts made to do this type of thing and even they have to change the clutches somewhat often. You took a stock Passat with over 130k on it that is your transportation to get to work and back and beat it intentionally and now seem surprised your clutch is wasted. On top of it, I'm quite certain you were'nt in any sort of sanctioned race type area so you're lucky nobody was driving by for you to run into and no cops saw you. A lot of areas seize vehicles involved in street racing and crush them into scrap steel. If you're looking for an estimate, its definately over a grand. If you had treated this car like it was made to be treated it would be costing you nothing.

If you're gonna trash on a car.....pick something easy to work on....like a Honda or Ford Ranger...... You just learned an expensive lesson......This is not a good one to learn on....better take it to a shop and keep the story to yourself and wear your star trek uniform......Maybe they feel sorry for you & give you a break on the bill.......Share the story & there will be zero sympathy for you....
